I’ve worked in digital marketing and technology since 2006 — starting with my own websites before expanding to help local small businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area get found online. Over time, that grew into working with some of the largest technology companies in the world in Silicon Valley and beyond.

My professional experience spans paid media, SEO, web analytics, social media marketing, email marketing, marketing technology, and data privacy compliance — across some of the most competitive verticals out there, including B2B and B2C technology, SaaS, legal, real estate, education, and e-commerce. I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, from large multinational corporations and VC-backed startups to bootstrapped startups and small local businesses. Companies I’ve managed digital marketing programs for include Alibaba, Shopify, Squarespace, and Hewlett-Packard, among many others.

I currently run LeadSproutLocal, a digital marketing and lead generation agency focused exclusively on local service businesses — the clients I’ve always found most rewarding to work with. If you’re a local service business looking to grow, I’d love to connect and explore how my team can help take your business to the next level.

From 2012–2019, I founded and ran Pathways Digital, a digital marketing agency that managed millions in annual ad spend. More recently, I served as Sr. Digital Program & Compliance Manager at VMware, where my work spanned digital marketing strategy and data privacy compliance.

In addition to marketing, I have strong technical skills in web development and design, with experience across several programming languages and technologies.

In a previous life, I worked in equity research in the financial services field. I began my career working on the sell-side for a technology investment bank in San Francisco in the late 1990s and early 2000s (during the dot-com boom and its subsequent bust). Later, I worked on the buy-side for a mutual fund and for an asset management firm in Marin County, CA.

Programming and building web applications is a serious passion of mine. I wrote my first computer program in the early 1980s in BASIC on a Radio Shack TRS-80. However, I didn’t really begin taking programming seriously until the mid-2000s. I am mainly a self-taught developer and designer but did take a few programming courses in college. These days, my programming interests lie mainly in AI development and automation with Python as well as building web applications in Ruby on Rails.

In my non-screen time, I enjoy world travel, playing guitar and piano, running, cooking and hiking California’s central coast where I live. Thanks for visiting my blog.
